    Scarborough Fair2007 : Day 7- Before Return

It is day 7, the day before I return to San Francisco.
All I can say is, "how time flies".
Days ago, actually I did not want to go to Toronto very much because it is so cold here.
But this journey is not as bad as I expected, at least I spent several days here happily. Moreover, there are still some places of interest I have not been yet.
So I feel one week is too short now.
Well, how about going to Toronto once more next year?
It sounds a good ideas, if I am spared then.

    Scarborough Fair2007 : Day 6- Pacific Mall

If Rachel were spared today, I would not go to the Pacific Mall with my cousin.

Pacific Mall is the biggest Chinese shopping mall in Scarborough. Almost all the shops there are managed by Chinese. It is very popular among the Chinese community in Toronto because for we Chinese shopping in this mall is like shopping at home.
I found many interesting and exciting things there, most of them are figures and dolls like Gundam---though I can buy them at Guangzhou---and Totoro, Mario and his friends, and Snoopy. Plus, I also found some interesting puzzles on sale. Their themes are the famous cartoons such as Winnie the Pooh and the Peanuts. However, I could only do window-shopping because in one way I don't have enough money, and even I bought something, I do not have space to put them on. What a pity! Maybe I can consider buy some next time when I come if I have enough space to settle them. Well, I mean the dolls and puzzles, I can buy the model figures in Guangzhou.
Tony, my cousin, bought some gifts for his girl friend. Suddenly I felt a little jealous at that moment. If I had one, I could do the same thing too. Sigh, how about try to forget it? Can I?

Day 6, I went to a mall. Perhaps, it can be called "Scarborough Fair" as well.

This diary may be out of order. I apologize for the inconvience of your understanding.

    Scarborough Fair2007 : Day 5- Go Skiing

To ski or to be skiied, that's a question.      -----CONAN

No newbie will ski well for the first time unless s/he is a genius.
I am not a genius, so my first skiing was to be skiied by the snow.
No snow pole, only skiing board. At the very beginning I even could not stand up well. Later, I could control my body balance; however, when I slipped from the top of slope, I was scared because the speed became faster and faster. What was worse, I did not know how to brake and make a turn in the high speed situation. All I could do was to shout "watch out" or "You~ jump~ I.~ jump~"(ha.....jump again........)
Anyway, I did not get hurt today, even I put my palms on the ground to brake---my wrists would be hurt in this situation. Lucky!

A little bit soured, we seven people went skiing there today, only one was single, that's me. In other words, I was the "light bulb".wtf......

Scarborough Fair2007 : Day 4- Glad to see you again

It snowed heavily this morning. The first time I found that the snowflake is really in the shape of hexagon, cool.

Today I dated with Tim and Rachel, who spent six years in the same school with me.
Rachel is still beautiful as before. Tim becomes much more mature. Sitting in Tim Hortons, drinking the hot coffee and chocolate, we talked about the lives of each other and shared the trivials. Though I have not seen them for a long time, but this chatting was still pleasing.
After a pleasing chatting we left for the University of Toronto campus at St. George, where Tim studies.
This campus is very big, much bigger than the one of SFSU. The border of this campus is not clear. People can drive their cars through the campus on the avenues easily. In SFSU, toll-gates locate at the entrances so that cars can not come in easily; plus, the roads within SFSU are not the avenues for cars running freely. UT's library is so big that I am a little envy to the students of this university.
By the way, in the St. George campus UT  have their own power plant! OMG......

CN tower is the tallest tower of Toronto, perhaps, even the North America or the world.
How tall is it? 447 meters.
Today, it is the first time for the three of us to visit the tower.
At the level of "Glass Floor", we looked down to the ground at the place 337m away from the ground. It's scaring to look down from such a high place. But I trust the building's quality, and I held Tim and Rachel's hands,"You jump, I jump".
Viewing the night scene of Toronto from CN tower is really a cool thing. Watching the citylights, I feel free from the busy city. Though I can not see Lake Ontario and the faraway landscape clearly, it still worths.
Of course, if possible, I would like to come one more time in daytime.

Thank you,  Tim and Rachel, you gave me a happy day.

PS: Toronto's Chinatown makes me recall the streets in my hometown.

    Scarborough Fair2007 : Day 2- Niagara Falls

    Merry Christmas, my friends.

In such a cold day, I went to the world-famous Niagara Big Falls.
Because it is so cold and the sky is cloudy, the mist created by the stream of falls makes the falls much more mysterious. If it is sunny, I guess I can see the rainbow. But, whatever, the falls are still so wonderful.
On the way to the falls, I saw some interesting names of places. They are:

    Bartlett Ave.
    Hamilton    (See Ace Combat 5)

    Winston Churchill Blvd. (well....)

    Kennedy Rd. (US President)

Christie St.  (I have a friend called Christine)

    St. Dennis Rd. (Dennis...Denise...)

And we drove past the Lake Ontario. It's really a great lake. It looks like the sea from beyond.

Walking on the snow and ice is an interesting thing though it is dangerous too.  The feeling is like playing acrobatics,wahahaha....

Anyway, today is a perfect day, especially when I drank a cup of hot chocolate after the trip.

Scarborough Fair 2007-Day 3: The Boxing Day

Boxing Day, a big day for crazy shopping, not for wandering around.Tongue out

Actually, I planned to go out with Charlie today. However, yesterday she said she would go shopping with her friends on the Boxing Day; therefore, I went out with my cousin and his friends.
We took the metro to the downtown. Unlike the metro in San Francisco, there is no message board telling when the next train will come. The style of the trains looks like the 1950s one. (What feeling?) I feel like going back to the old days of the 1950s when I was on board.
When we reached the destination, we were shocked because there were so many people! Oh my god, it was so crowded. What was worse, there was no shop where I would like to buy something. I expected to see if there was a Nokia cell phone on sale then I bought one for my mother, but finally I bought nothing when I returned. All I got today was to experience  the atmosphere  in downtown on the Boxing Day. Confused

Not a good day, though it was not all bad.

(The journal of day 2 was posted at the QQ space. Due to the website problem, I could not post it here timely.)

    Scarborough Fair2007 : Day 1- Glacial Skies

We left San Francisco at noon; then we flew over the snow mountains of Neveda Sirrea and the plains of the central America.
It  is pleasing to see the snow mountains on the plane because the mountains look so beautiful from above with the blue color of the clear sky.
After a 4-hour flight from San Francisco, I arrived at Pearson Int. Airport, Toronto.
The first impression is: COOL, not Cold.
Snow has not completely melt away yet. The wind is so cool.
Temperature was 9°C when I left the airport, it was 21:00 at that time. The wind from arctic blew on my face. I began to recall the winter in my hometown again.......

The destination is Scarborough. That's why the name of the whole operation is Scarborough Fair.
